We are concerned for the safety of all students at Roberts Elementary. It is important that children be picked up on time afterschool. Children that are not picked up on time will wait in the front office. Teachers cannot keep students for an extended period of time and the office staff is not available to watch students. Please keep in mind that teachers have many responsibilities to attend to before and after classes. We do understand that there will be rare occasions that may keep you from picking up your child in a timely fashion and suggest that you have a buddy system with other parents or drop-in care with the after school program. Your cooperation is greatly appreciated.

Drop-off Locations/Parking/Traffic Safety
It is the goal of Roberts Elementary to provide the safest environment for all children. Parent cooperation with traffic around the school is needed for student safety. Parent parking is not allowed in the designated drop-off areas: one in front of the school by the Thorn Street, and the other in the back of the school on Ridge Street. Do not leave your car unattended in this area in order to keep traffic flowing. The back parking lot on Ridge Street is open for parents. Contact the school administration if you have any concerns.
For your child’s safety, all outer doors will be locked during the school day. All visitors must enter through the front of the building and report immediately to the front office. If you wish to proceed to another area of the building you must sign in at the front office and obtain a visitor’s badge. You will be asked to have some type of official identification. If you need to meet with your child’s teacher, a conference must be scheduled during the teacher’s assigned conference time. Parents are not allowed to go directly to their child’s classroom without getting a pass from the office.
Students learn best when they attend school every day. When students miss school, they miss important lessons and essential skills needed for academic success.
Regular attendance establishes patterns of responsibility and commitment that will serve students throughout their lives, including in the workplace and college.
School staff are eager to help you connect with your child’s school experience.
El Paso Independent School District

Release of Child to Adults
We encourage parents to schedule dental or medical appointments after school hours. If unavoidable, we require that parents sign out the child at the front office. For the child’s protection, a photocopy of the parent’s driver’s license will be required on the initial release for later verification of release. Teachers will only release a student from the classroom when instructed to do so by the office. If someone other than a parent or guardian picks up the student, that person must be listed on the “release” form and proper ID must be shown. If the child returns to school on the same day, he/she must be checked in at the front office.
Discipline Policy
Our goal is to teach our student to take responsibility for their actions and to solve problems in a peaceful manner. Our discipline plan encourages students to take responsibility for their actions and to respond in a responsible and reflective manner.
Each family receives and EPISD Student Code of Conduct booklet detailing our policies.
Non-Violence Policy
Violence is defined as any mean work, look, sign or act that hurts a person’s body, feeling, or things. Violence will not be tolerated at our campus and consequences will be issued to students that violate this policy.
